Selecting the right swimming pool for you is a personal decision. In all swimming pools, the water must be drawn from the pool, filtered and sanitized, then returned to the pool. In drawing water from the pool, suction points are established at the surface (skimmer or overflow) and at the bottom (main drain) which has to be designed properly or it may cause problems later on. Almost everyone enjoys a swimming pool, especially in this warm Cambodian weather. Keeping your swimming pool in top shape is like most home maintenance responsibilities. Not everyone enjoys the maintenance and repairs that come along with owning one though. For pool owners, this is something they simply do not want to ignore if they wish to avoid the expensive and time-consuming solutions to undo the damage from negligence in the future.

Since many people choose to hire a local pool professional for a trusted level of maintenance service to prevent chemical imbalances, malfunctioning equipment or being frustrated by algae or discoloration, we at Bora-Tech have come up with an example of a maintenance contract we can offer to clients.

The daily pool maintenance should be as follows:

• Skim off any leaves and debris that have collected in the pool
  
• Check pump and filter to ensure that they are in good working condition
  
• Vacuum pool
  
• Check balance of pool chemicals and adjust if necessary
  
• Run the water through the filter for a sufficient time to ensure that the entire capacity of the pool has been filtered and the water is clear.
  

The weekly pool maintenance should be as follows:

• Check the flow rate and pressure gauge on the sand filter to ascertain whether the tie filter requires back washing – backwash if required
  
• Clean any debris build-up in the balance tank
  
• Check water level in the balance tank
  
• Check total alkalinity in the pool and adjust if required
  
• Vacuum and brush the pool and tile-line if necessary.
  

• Check the calcium hardness and adjust if necessary
  
• Shock dose the pool to achieve a free chlorine concentration of 10mg/L
